House Democrats are throwing their weight behind the Inflation Reduction Act and other major pieces of legislation passed during the first two years of the Biden administration.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Monday announced the creation of the Regional Leadership Council, a 12-member group charged with selling the climate law and other significant bills from the last Congress while working to support implementation.

The group is coming together as House Republicans set their sights on Biden administration accomplishments. They have vowed to conduct strict oversight on the hundreds of billions of dollars that the administration has allocated toward infrastructure, clean energy and manufacturing, among other uses.

“The Regional Leadership Council will focus like a laser beam on executing President [Joe] Biden’s vision of investing in America," Jeffries said in a statement.

The group will be responsible for "helping to make sure that successful implementation occurs, public awareness of our legislative accomplishments increases and meaningful change is realized in all 212 congressional districts represented by House Democrats," he added.

Former House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) will chair the council. Its members, one from each of the Democratic Caucus’ 12 regions, include Democratic Reps. Jared Huffman of California, Lizzie Fletcher of Texas and Lori Trahan of Massachusetts.
